There is a vacancy on the 12-member Auburn Arts Commission.  The Commission’s goal is to  integrate the arts into all aspects of community life.  The Commission meets at 4:30 PM on the first Tuesday of every month at Auburn City Hall.  Membership term is 3 years and is open to residents of Auburn who are interested in promoting and advocating for the arts in Auburn.  Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor of Auburn.  For an application or additional information, please contact the Mayor’s office at 425-931-3041 or tbothell@auburnwa.gov.

Des Moines Arts Commission openings

The Des Moines City Council is accepting applications for candidates wishing to serve on the Des Moines Arts Commission.   Arts Commissioners serve three year terms and are appointed by the Mayor with City Council confirmation.  The Commission meets on the second Wednesday of the month from 4-5:30 PM at the Des Moines Activity Center.  For information regarding Arts Commission programs please go to www.desmoineswa.gov or contact Patrice Thorell, Des Moines Parks, Recreation and Senior Services Department at 206.870.6527.

Empty Bowls event needs volunteers

Help Burien celebrate its annual Empty Bowls event to benefit the local food bank.  Volunteer opportunities include bowl washing at Moshier Art Center on January 16 from 10 AM – noon; and serving meals at the Empty Bowls event, which takes place at the Burien Community Center on Thursday, January 26.  For more information, contact Gina Kallman, Burien’s Cultural Arts Supervisor, at ginak@burienwa.gov.

Join in a volunteer work party at the Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden to celebrate the community-building legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this Monday, January 16, from 10AM – 2 PM.  The Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden is a community-powered gem nestled in the heart of north SeaTac, just minutes from the north end of the SeaTac International Airport runway.  Come work with us to rake leaves, weed garden beds, and keep our FREE garden resource looking lean and lovely this winter season.  Lunch and drinks provided.

Tea house volunteers needed for Burien Arts-A-Glow

Volunteers are needed to staff the tea house at this year’s Burien Arts-a-Glow event. The event is Saturday, September 10th, 5-10 PM at Dottie Harper Park, 421 SW 146th, Burien.  Duties will be serving tea samples and samples of bread and jam.  Two shifts are available: 5-6:30 PM and 6:30-8 PM.
