4Culture advances community through arts, heritage, preservation and public art. A public agency chartered by King County government in 2003, 4Culture is committed to advancing the highest quality of life and sense of community through investing in cultural citizens and assets. With four program areas: Arts, Heritage, Preservation and Public Art, 4Culture advocates for culture; provides annual funding for artists, heritage specialists, and cultural organizations; manages public and private art projects; catalyzes and convenes the cultural community around specific issues and initiatives; and provides technical assistance to all areas of the county.
The purpose of Allied Arts of Renton, Inc. is to cultivate a community that values all forms of art in order to enrich lives, make arts accessible to all, celebrate the diversity of art and encourage maximum participation in the arts. Among the activities we sponsor: Chalk Arts Festival at Renton River Days and the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra performance at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center, which features local student musicians.
Something for everyone at our storefront gallery/studio in Enumclaw! Free monthly guild demonstrations, a popular monthly Poetry Jam, and art classes in many different media.
Burien Arts provides local, public access to the visual and performing arts for citizens of southwest King County. Many of the programs are free and appeal to all ages including the July and August Shakespeare in the Park performances, the annual Burien Strawberry Festival activities in June, a fall juried art show, and a visual arts event: Vision 20/20 in November. The annual Classic Jazz Festival in February is one of the few programs for which a modest fee is charged.
We have seven performing groups; FWCPA’s mission is promoting the performing arts and working with the city toward a 700 seat performing arts, culture and conference center in Federal Way.
Preserving Our Garden Heritage: We manage and develop a community-owned garden that demonstrates sound horticultural and environmental practices and that creates beauty for public enjoyment. Includes the historically significant Seike Garden and the Elda Behm Garden as well as display gardens planted and maintained by the King County Iris Society, Puget Sound Daylily Club, Seattle Rose Society, and the City of SeaTac Parks Department. The gardens are located at 13735 24th Avenue S in SeaTac, one mile north of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
The Kent School District services students from Kent, Covington, Black Diamond, and Renton. With 40 schools there are various concerts, theatrical productions and presentations throughout the year.
The King County Library System has over 17 community libraries throughout South King County, offering a variety of story times, writers’ groups, computer classes, book clubs, multicultural programs and citizenship preparation classes. The Creative Arts Center gallery, stage and studio serve to promote the arts in a viewing, teaching and performing venue. Visual art, theater, music, spoken and written word and dance.
The Marine Science and Technology (MaST) Center is the marine laboratory for Highline Community College. MaST is dedicated to expanding knowledge about the Puget Sound and the surrounding environment through teaching, outreach, and research.
Our nonprofit (The White Center Jubilee Days Festival) organizes and funds a week-long community festival in White Center, WA. We are a 100% volunteer, Seafair-sanctioned event. Our Festival includes a garden tour, golf tournament, carnival, fireworks, roller skating, bowling & food drive, pancake breakfast, car show, street fair (with craft, art, food, farm, non-profit and commercial booths), two stages featuring local entertainment for all ages and a street dance. It is a free festival.
