The Historical Society of Federal Way is recruiting volunteers to assist with the summer season at the historic David T. Denny and John Barker cabins on S 348th Street in Federal Way at West Hylebos Wetlands Park. Opportunities to meet and greet visitors, assist with programs, collections and artifacts. SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve seeks a collaborative and innovative Team Leader to oversee and manage their Plant Propagation Program! SHADOW’s Plant Propagation and Greenhouse Program provides native plants for use in SHADOW’s ongoing habitat restoration projects. 2015 projects include: reforestation in targeted areas, creation of educational gardens and programming, and hosting educational service learning projects. The Team Leader is a dedicated volunteer looking for a long-term leadership opportunity to guide & shape a robust native plant propagation and education program.

Concessions volunteers needed

seeks volunteers to help with concessions during evening and weekend shows. Volunteers will be able to sit on a high stool or stand, and will get free coffee and tea and employee pricing on other snacks. Weekly work parties – Save Habitat and Diversity of Wetlands

Through Fall, 2015

SHADOW (Save Habitat And Diversity Of Wetlands) is hosting weekly Saturday work parties in 2015 to restore habitat on SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve. Work parties take place from 10 AM – 2 PM, rain or shine. Tasks may include planting native plants, removing invasive species, building habitat zones, carpentry, landscaping, trail maintenance and more. Most projects require moderate to heavy exertion, including but not limited to: lifting, walking, digging, pulling, and hiking. Please come with a water bottle, warm layers, and a smile! Join us for our monthly 1st Tuesday Garden Care Invitational at the Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden. From noon till dark each month, the Garden Manager and volunteers will be weeding, raking, thinning and potting up plants from the Botanical Garden’s collections. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned volunteer, we need your help and enthusiasm to keep our Garden looking spiffy and running smoothly. Come for an hour – or stay all day – and gather garden tips and techniques from new friends and old.
