2022 Curator Roster Call

Deadline: 9/27/2022

The Washington State Arts Commission (ArtsWA)’s Art in Public Places (AIPP) team is accepting applications to the 2022 Curator Roster Call until September 27, 2022. The Curator Roster is a list of people available to research and suggest artworks for the State Art Collection. ArtsWA hires curators to help us choose artworks for public buildings or campuses. The goal when working with curators is to create intentional, ideas-driven collections of artworks that include diverse artists and perspectives.

Curators find and suggest artworks based on the local committee’s goals and budget. ArtsWA partners with Washington’s public schools, colleges, universities, and state agencies. Curators have diverse backgrounds. Their experience may include work with galleries, museums, academic institutions, or as professional artists, tribal leaders, or art consultants.

Typical compensation for a curator selected to recommend artworks is around 10% of the overall project budget. Budgets typically range between $15,000 and $75,000.
