The Airport Community Ecology (ACE) Fund, authorized by the Port of Seattle Commission in November 2016, recognizes that neighboring communities that experience more impacts from airport operations should also experience more benefits. The Commission directed that the program support environmental projects and programs in the cities of SeaTac, Burien and Des Moines. To ensure maximum environmental benefit to communities, the ACE Fund takes a two-pronged approach. The Small Matching Grants Program offers community organizations the chance to apply for Port funding to improve the local environment. The Port supports long-term forest stewardship in SeaTac, Burien, and Des Moines through Forterra’s Green Cities Partnership.
The Fall 2019 application cycle for small matching grants is now open. To learn how to apply, and for examples of past successful projects, and to network with other potential grant applicants, attend one of these drop-in sessions before preparing your grant application:
- Wednesday, August 14, 5-7 PM at the Burien Library, 400 SW 152nd Street, Burien
- Monday, August 19, 5-7 PM at the Valley View Library, 17850 Military Road S, SeaTac
- Tuesday, September 3, 5-7 PM at the Des Moines Library, 21620 11th Avenue S, Des Moines
