Drawing Herd Session 1 Reverberations: Experimental Looping in Sound and Drawing
Date: 4/6/2024, 10 AM – Noon
Learn how to use cell phone audio recording and a loop station we will make a collaborative composition sourcing found sounds throughout the park. We will dive into the long history of looping, from heartbeats to bird calls, to drum circles, and discuss how it has shaped contemporary music. Joining a lineage of artists and musicians, we will work across disciplines, drawing from music, and seeking sounds inspired by our drawings. By the end of the workshop, you will walk away with a copy of our unique looped soundtrack with accompanying art!

Drawing Herd Session 2 – Salish Shapes and Paper Cuts
Date: 4/11/2024, 5:30-7 PM
In this class, we will take inspiration from the exhibition, “Muckleshoot: Alive and Strong”. We will explore the importance of shape within Salish art traditions with special guest teacher and exhibiting artist, Sam Obrovac through paper cutouts. Our collective cutouts will culminate in a collaborative collage. Join us for an evening of community exchange and playful observation as we look at what we bring out and what is left behind to create something beautiful.

Drawing Herd Session 4 – Sun Power: Botanical Silhouettes
Date: 4/27/2024, 11 AM – 12:30 PM

Join Drawing Herd and special guest Liz St Andre for a quick lesson in creating cyanotypes, also known as sun prints. You’ll learn how to harness the power of the sun with photographic chemistry from the 1800s to make stunning, Prussian blue botanical silhouettes. Prepared paper and all necessary supplies provided.
