Environmental Justice Art Contest

Washington Department of Natural Resources
Deadline: 4/12/2024

This year’s contest theme is Environmental Justice (EJ). There are three topic areas related to the work of the Washington DNR and EJ: Wildfire Resilience & Recovery, Responsible Recreation, and Urban Canopy Cover & Tree Equity, including the benefits of urban trees and the differences in tree cover by neighborhood presented by various DNR staff.

Artists will be divided by grade into three categories: grades K-5, grades 6-8, and grades 9-12. The top art pieces for each age group will be selected by public vote and receive a prize! 1st place is your artwork printed on DNR outreach materials and displayed on DNR’s website, and 2nd place is a DNR guest speaker coming to your class.

In case you missed the live launch of the event, check out the Art Contest Lauch Event recording for more information about Washington DNR, environmental justice (EJ), information and background on the three topics of this year’s contest and how they relate to EJ, and how the art contest works.
