Auburn Adventure Film Festival – Auburn Ave Theatre

An adventure can take form in many different lenses, whether it is in the world of travel, sports, photography, culinary arts, nature, and relationships. The Auburn Adventure Film Festival is designed to showcase perspectives that will engage the audience by letting them be a part of the adventure.

Climbing to New Heights | 1:00-2:30 PM

Reaching for more, pushing harder, expanding our bodies and minds, are focal points for these intrepid filmmakers. Take on the next level with them by viewing their stories. Single block ticket: $10

  • Deep Water – Join psicobloc pioneer Tim Emmett and competition climber Kyra Condie on a captivating exploration of fear, mentorship, and deep water soloing in Ha Long Bay. Learning from the master, tackling fear, and succeeding.

  • Loic and the Fiolopapys – Three avid climbers who join together to form the the inseparable “Flolopapys”. Watch as they take on climbing adventures where they support and compliment each other with humor, friendship and fragility.

  • Hers to Take – Explore the benefits of risk taking women in outdoor adventure sports. Learn how meeting with advisors and learning the ways they cope helped through fear of failure.

  • Gone Tomorrow: Kentucky Ice Climbing – Join a crew of harmless misfits as they race to search out and climb new ice routes in Kentucky before they’re gone.


Defying the Norm | 4:00-5:30 PM

Watch as these fearless filmmakers take on subject matter not usually seen in daily discussions. Join them to see what can be when we look beyond the status quo. Single block ticket: $10

  • Curiosity – A woman thinks back about her life and how she came to love the outdoors and how she might pass it onto her daughter.

  • The Hardest Day in Maine – The 2018 Maine Summer Adventure Race Competition is a 24 hours outdoor endurance race held annually in the Midcoast region. Follow the 2017 Us national championship-winning team as they run the course against other top teams.

  • The Rider – An 81 year old man stays active by riding his bicycle.

  • We Need Lungs: Running the Pyrenees – Ultra-runner Sebastian takes us into an extreme adventure that demonstrates the strength of a physical achievement, the power that passion can generate, and the determination needed to adapt to the unexpected and push beyond boundaries.


Frozen Feats | 7:00-8:30 PM

Baby, it may be cold outside but that didn’t stop these filmmakers from becoming their own specialized snow birds. Bundle up and join the adventure. Single block ticket: $10

  • Elle Amie (She Likes) – Using poetry, dream sequences, and animation we pay homage to snowboarder Marie France Roy. Her world class riding is encapsulated by the feeling we all seek in the mountains, pure joy.

  • Games of Survival – Watch the gathering of Eskimo people from all around the circumpolar region to celebrate the largest annual celebration of Alaskan Native Heritage.

  • The Sacred Place Where Life Begins – Two adventurers embark on a dangerous four month expedition to document the migration of the longest land mammal. In their journey they discover an incredible ecosystem that has been protected for more  25,000 years and is now in danger of collapse.

  • Shelter – Come along with a group of five friends with boards and climbing skins underfoot to explore untracked mountain faces. Learn how they ride the mountains in an environmentally-responsible way making sure to reduce their carbon footprint.


Saturday Night Mixer | 9:00-11:00 PM

Join fellow attendees and filmmakers at Geaux Brewing for a networking mixer! Event is free with a no-host bar – no tickets required!
