Blue Poppy Day – Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden

Presented in partnership with the Federal Way Arts Commission and the Pacific Bonsai Museum, Blue Poppy Day celebrates the natural beauty and talent in bloom in South Puget Sound.

Experience the world-renowned Himalayan Blue Poppy meadow, shop at an art market featuring local artists, and enjoy a day of performances!

  • Poetry Garden in the Rutherford Conservatory featuring the works of poets: Carl Palmer, Allen Braden, Alison Hedlund, Jane Lang, Justin Teerlinck, L. Lisa Lawrence, Brian Watson, Celeste Geaudreau, & Eva Bonnes
  • Demonstrations throughout the garden, including sketching in action by artists from the Tacoma Urban Sketchers
  • Two blooming Blue Poppy Meadows
