LEGO Harry Potter and the Transgender Witch – Theatre Battery
March 29 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 4:00 pm on Monday, repeating until March 29, 2021
This pandemic-era creation features writers, actors, designers, and musicians from around the country and has been stop-motion animated with LEGOs in an attic in Kent. The pilot episode premieres on YouTube at 4 PM Pacific Time on February 1, 2021, with new episodes releasing every Monday for the next nine weeks.
After author JK Rowling expressed anti-trans views last year, an ongoing debate has been sparked within queer fandom about how LGBT fans should relate to the author and her work going forward. This project by Theatre Battery aims to investigate how an out transgender girl would navigate the Hogwarts we see portrayed in the book series, and it also shows historically beloved characters from her unique perspective.
(This project is a non-profit fanfiction parody and is not affiliated with JK Rowling, Warner Brothers, or LEGO)
