SoCoCulture membership meeting – advocate for your organization and for culture overall in 2019
January 9 @ 12:00 pm - 2:30 pmFree
On Wednesday, January 9, at noon we’ll host the first SoCo membership meeting of the year. It’s a very important one for SoCo members to attend. We’ll be welcoming our longtime friend Marcia Holland of Outcomes Unlimited (and former SoCo leadership team member) who will help SoCoCulture develop a strategic plan for the next two to three years.
SoCoCulture was founded in 2004 to help the cultural organizations of South King County thrive. We continually strive to stay true to that mission, and in order to remain relevant, the SoCo leadership is deeply interested in knowing more about the upcoming work of your organization. We will weave the information you share with us into SoCoCulture’s programming and resources through 2021.
At this meeting, the three questions we’ll be considering are:
- What does your organization hope to accomplish in the next 18-24 months?
- What barriers will you have to overcome in order to accomplish your goals?
- What could SoCo do to help your organization overcome those barriers?
Participation in this meeting will be used to shape SoCoCulture’s future work, and each attendee will also hone strategic thinking skills that can benefit his or her own organization.
Following the strategic planning session, Dr. Elizabeth Stewart, director of the Renton History Museum and a member on both the Washington Museums Association and Cultural Access Washington boards, will lead a discussion on cultural advocacy at the local, county, state and federal levels. You’ll also get a sneak peek at what’s in store for Arts and Heritage Day 2019 in Olympia on Wednesday, February 6.
Bring your experiences and questions to this meeting! Come 15 minutes early to network and enjoy refreshments, then we’ll dive right into the strategic planning piece of the meeting right at noon.
