Springtime Spectacular – Gateway Concert Band

March 10 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 7:15pm, repeating until March 11, 2019

No admission charge, but $10 donation recommended

The program begins with the cinematic Galactic Fanfare. Next, flute soloist Barbara Cotton is featured playing the epicly difficult Fantasie Pastoral Hongroise by Franz Doppler. Then the band makes its way through the rhythm challenges of Radiance. American Civil War Fantasy is one of the favorite classics of the band repertoire. Following the poignant In Simple Faith, the first part of the concert concludes with members of the Cascade Foothills Chorale joining the band for Sandi Patty’s thrilling rendition of The Star Spangled Banner, as it was presented at the Centennial celebration of the Statue of Liberty.

The second portion of the concert opens with a breathtaking overture entitled Skydance. Next, assistant conductor Stephanie Magnusson leads the band in a tricky piece written by a high school junior entitled Contraption. Following the moving Infinite Hope inspired by a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the band springs into the rousing circus march, The Squealer. After a poignant ode to the Emerald Isle entitled Oh, My Heart Belongs to Ireland, the program ends in high style with the sprightly Wedding Dance by Jacques Press.

Directed by Jack Prindle. For more information or directions, call 360-825-5369.
