Bass trombonist James (Jim) Prindle will be the featured soloist at this concert. Jim is originally from Spokane Washington and moved to California after graduating from Gonzaga University. He spent a year teaching high school band and then played in the 6th US Army Band (Presidio of San Francisco) and various groups in the Bay area for 3 years. After the Army, Jim got his MA in Music from California State University at Northridge, studied with members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and played with orchestras, jazz groups, and summer music festivals in the LA area.
Jim and his wife, Cat, moved to San Diego in 1976 and he has performed with the San Diego Symphony and Opera Orchestras, San Diego Chamber Orchestra, Civic Theater and other pit orchestras (major musicals such as The Lion King, Wicked, A Chorus Line, The Producers, Evita, and many more). He has also performed with brass ensembles, studio recording groups and several other orchestras and bands. In 1981-2 he and Cat lived in Caracas, Venezuela where he played with the Orquesta Municipal de Caracas and the Caracas Philharmonic before returning to San Diego in 1982.
