The Four Seasons – Auburn Symphony Orchestra
April 8 @ 7:30 pm - 11:30 pmFree
Celebrate Spring with Antonio Vivaldi’s iconic music, performed by the Auburn Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Music Director Wesley Schulz. Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons featuring soloist Emilie Choi premieres Thursday, April 8 at 7:30 PM at www.auburnsymphony.org. The concert will be available for free streaming through May 8, 2021.
The Four Seasons is the most popular work of Antonio Vivaldi who is himself one of the most popular composers of the Baroque era (1600-1750.) The music follows very closely the narrative of four poems which Vivaldi is thought to have written himself. For example, in Spring, his barking dog can be heard in the viola section. You can also hear the running deer in the autumn hunt and the shivery cold gusts of wind in the winter. The iconic solo violin and accompanying orchestra provide plenty of music to spark your imagination.
Violinist Emilie Choi is an avid chamber and orchestral musician based in Seattle. She holds the Concertmaster position with the Auburn Symphony Orchestra.
This free streaming performance premieres Thursday, April 8, 7:30 PM and will be available through May 8.
In addition to the concert, ASO has released the next in their series of educational videos for children. The spring edition of Art Inspires Art: The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi again begins with Emilie Choi introducing the music to the viewers. Teaching artist Monica Tolas then demonstrates step-by-step a spring themed watercolor. Three seasonal videos are available now with the final installment coming for the summer. Auburn Symphony Orchestra produces this series in partnership with Interurban Center for the Arts. The videos are designed for children in pre-k and elementary school. Since they make use of materials commonly found at home, the projects are accessible to almost every child. Videos are free at www.auburnsymphony.org/learnfromhome.
