Hiring Maritime Storytelling Intern

Washington Trust for Historic Preservation
Applications due: 10/13/2022

Are you a passionate undergraduate or graduate student in the fields of history, journalism, or communications who has strong research and writing skills and is looking for a paid internship this school year—or does that sound like someone you know? The Washington Trust for Historic Preservation is now hiring an intern to help share stories from the new Maritime Washington National Heritage Area!

This paid position will develop, research, and write a series of stories that highlight diverse individuals and communities from Washington’s maritime heritage, past and present. These stories will help celebrate and share the rich stories of our state’s saltwater shorelines and will serve as a centerpiece of the new Maritime Washington website.

The intern will dive into a range of topics such as Tribal Canoe Journeys, immigrant cannery workers, and women on working waterfronts. With guidance and regular support from staff, this intern will lead the creation of these stories, conducting research through archival materials and collaborating directly with community members to craft engaging, public-facing content.
