The Native Education Literacy and Culture Specialist supports equitable access to high quality, culturally-responsive, language and literacy learning opportunities for American Indian/Alaska Native students. The Literacy and Culture Specialist supports the Native Education Program, the Language Learning Department and other school and district staff as applicable (K-12). The position supports a wide range of school-based and community based activities to engage students and families in improving reading and writing proficiency. This position also supports the implementation of the WA State Since Time Immemorial Tribal Sovereignty Curriculum.

This person will lead much of the Since Time Immemorial Tribal Sovereignty Curriculum teacher development work in school year 19-20 and beyond. Starting salary for highly qualified candidates is 70k and we have a great benefits package. Seeking an individual with solid teacher skills who may or may not be certificated and who is deeply connected to our Native ed/culture/arts community in King County and Highline community.
