Seeking Youth Participants in the 9th Congressional District

Congressman Adam Smith’s Office
Application deadline: 6/16/2023

Congressman Adam Smith is excited to announce WA-09’s inaugural Youth Advisory Council.  The Youth Advisory Council will give community-minded and civically engaged high school and college students an opportunity to delve into and discuss the issues most important to them and to our community with the congressman and his staff.  Participants will meet once per month from September 2023 through May 2024. Over the course of the 2023-24 school year, students serving on the Youth Advisory Council will learn about issues and legislation coming before the U.S. House of Representatives and share their insight with Rep. Smith and his team.

On the Youth Advisory Council, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Interact with Congressman Smith and his staff
  • Learn about the processes and operations of a congressional office
  • Research and discuss policies and issues with other students on the council
  • Draft memos containing legislative recommendations for Congressman Smith

All current high school and undergraduate college students, as well as individuals between 18 and 22 years old who are not enrolled in college living in Washington’s Ninth District are eligible to serve on the Youth Advisory Council.  Applications will be accepted through June 16, 2023.
