Highline Heritage Museum

When two popular teachers at Burien’s Kennedy Catholic High School were forced to “voluntarily resign” in February of this year because they both identify as gay, students, parents and community members reacted with walk-outs and demonstrations.

The exhibit captures that moment in the window of the Museum at 819 SW 152nd Street and is available for viewing 24/7. UW Museology student Kira Walters helped to curate this program, with contributions from the students of Kennedy High School. Highline Heritage Museum is committed to being inclusive and affirming to the LGBTQ+ community, to people of color, to people with disabilities and to the religious and cultural communities of the Highline area.
