Burien Arts Association’s Pop-Up Gallery at Burien Community Center
Angelina Tolentino is the featured artist in Burien Arts Association’s June 2019 Pop-up Exhibit at the Burien Community Center.
Tolentino is Inspired by the flora and fauna of the oceans, as well as vintage burlesque, circus life, high fashion and costumes, She paints semi-surreal subaquatic worlds that marry all of these elements. Her medium of choice is acrylic paint on wood panels. She is currently obsessed with: flowers, street art, International food packaging, old tins, wind-up toys, twigs, and of course, sea creatures. She is happiest with a little paint in her hair.
Tolentino was born in 1971 in Venice Beach, and grew up in Northern California. From a young age, she made art and design the focus her study, and worked in the burgeoning field of new media in the mid-90s, as a graphic artist in the interactive department of Walt Disney Studios. She has be heavily influenced by films from the golden age of animation, including the work of Disney, Max Fleischer, Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising, as well as by surrealist work from Salvador Dali to the Pop-Surrealism of Mark Ryden and Camille Rose Garcia.”

The free exhibit at the Burien Community Center is located at 14700 6th Avenue SW, Burien, and is open Monday-Thursday, 8:30 AM – 8 PM and Friday, 8:30 AM – 5 PM.
