Vikram Madan grew up in India and spent many years working as an engineer before following his heart into the visual and literary arts, creating work that can be humorous, quirky, fun, lighthearted, philosophical, thought-provoking and, sometimes, all of these at the same time. Along the way Vikram has received a 4Culture artist grant, editorial-cartooning awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Washington Press Association, and even won a Seattle Times 3-Minute Movie Contest. Vikram’s debut book of funny poems, ‘The Bubble Collector’ was nominated (by invitation) for the 2014 WA State Book Awards, won a Moonbeam Award for Children’s Poetry, and is most often compared to the works of Shel Silverstein.
Barbara Noonan paints in soft pastel to convey her personal interpretation in a painting. When not in her Pioneer Square studio, she’s off capturing light painting en plein aire. Working under Pastel Laureate Bob Gerbracht in San Francisco, Barbara studied portrait and figure painting and continues to attend workshops, critique groups and artist’s residencies. Influences include Diebenkorn, Thiebaud, Skip Lawrence and Alex Powers. She is a Signature Member of the Northwest Pastel Society and the Pastel Society of the West Coast, and a member of Women Painters of Washington. She teaches students in Seattle and on Orcas Island.
